So it makes sense not to place a wooden upstand behind a gas hob.
As far as marble, granite or acrylic, as long as it’s fire or heat retardant, then you can place them behind an oven, cooker or hob.

Yes, you can, but like the hob, you need to make sure it’s the right material.
Fitting a wooden upstand behind a sink may cause the upstand to warp or even expand due to exposure to water.
We advise using a solid material like granite, marble, or acrylic.
